This is a square crop of a photo I posted on Instagram. Follow me @tylerpond05 if you want to see the whole thing. Also on twitter with the same handle.
This kid is awesome. Don’t think I can ever get enough of him. At least when he’s asleep.
Already missing these guys!!! Been lazy and working on updating my iPad to ios7. Looks cool, but we’ll see. I love you family!!
Testing out the new Pressgram app. Looks promising. Maybe now I’ll post a lot more the WordPress.
So this week was my first week if school at SDSU. It’s been busy and exciting. I’ve chosen to ride my bike and take public transportation to campus. It’s been eye opening, and a good reminder of my mission when I took public transportation in Philly. It’s been particularly hard this week since its been ridiculously hot. My classes are M-Th and start either at 2 or 4. I’m in 2 Econ classes, geography and a WWII class. Of those 4, I’m most interested in WWII, however, the teacher I have is possibly the most boring as well. Coupled with the fact that it’s my last class of the week and in the afternoon, and I already dozed off a couple of times. Other than that, life is good. Had to change my work schedule around so that i can have afternoon classes, so I get up ealier, and I’m ok with that. Trying to get Watson to go to bed earlier has been a challenge, since Andrea and I have different methods of putting him to sleep. She likes to relax him and get him all snuggled in, whereas I wind him up until he can’t go anymore.
Anyway, in case you haven’t noticed I tagged metal in this post, so metal you shall get. So riding the trolley this week, I was able to focus a little more on what I wanted to listen to. So I loaded up my power metal playlist and listened to the bands on there and one stood out in particular, Symphony X. They’re an American group from New Jersey and these guys can freakin wail. I may have already featured them before, but thses guys are amazing. Michael Romeo, the guitarist, is a real inspiration. very classical, but still knows how to serve the song. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and seriously want to emulate his style in with mine, if I had a style. Anyway, last week Watson and I watched a concert video of Gigantour, a festival type show put on by Dave Mustain of Megadeth. So Symphony X was on that year and on the video (available on Netflix) they played one of my favorite songs. So here it is (not liv so go watch it on Netflix cuz Michael’s fingers are flying):
And here’s another awesome song:
Well it’s been less time than the last post. I’m not proud of my laziness. I’m just sitting here with Watson, who’s on his second double ear infection. Tonight has been particularly hard, because he’s been needy and is half asleep. Also had student orientation at SDSU, and that was a waste of 100 bucks and a major waste of time. It was like 15 people emphasizing the same 5 points. The academic advising was nice. I was able to get my major changed to social science single subject for teaching!! So that was nice. I’ve been kind of slowing down on the photography since Watson and Andrea have been sick. I also have a ton of reading that I need to read, like Mark Levin and my Tony Iommi biography. But I am excited about SDSU and all that. It was interesting about how they want the transfer students to be more involved in activities, yet, at least for my situation, I’m not going to spend the last remaining seconds of my time without my family. Unfortunately, SDSU doesn’t have much to offer for families with young children. Oh well, i guess that means less money spent. I also found out that there’s a Rubio’s on campus!!! Of all the times to not have a plethora of coupons!! Oh well.
I want to talk about the new Satch album, Unstoppable Momentum. Of all the post Is There Love In Space?, it’s the best album in a long time!! I love it!! The tone is undeniably Satch. I love the album art. The only sad thing is that my friend Byron and I found out that Jeff Campitelli, Joe’s regular drummer, isn’t on this record. It’s not like you can tell on the album, but just the thought makes me feel sad and confused as to why he isn’t there. Anyway, here’s my favorite song off the album.
